How do you celebrate Zos chanuka ?

in early seforim there is no mention of last day chanuka as a day for tefilla, it is a recent chasidish thing.
So we celebrate same as the other days

In the past we wrnt up to Meron to daven. Zos Chanukah is a BIG day by the Rashbi.
Tonight my family went to daven by Rav Gedaliah MiZhvil and Kever Rochel ( weather too nasty for a long drive up north). This is THE day for tefilla. Nothing to do with Chassidish or Litvish. In Israel alot of frum people know the 8th day is special.

סגולות היום

בעל בני יששכר (כסלו מאמר ב') כותב: "בחנוכה יש מקום לעורר פקודת עקרים ועקרות כעין ראש השנה, הנה לדעתי עיקר העניין עיקר הסגולה ביום האחרון הנקרא בפי כל 'זאת חנוכה'".

כמו כן יום זה הוא עת רצון לקבלת תפילותינו לפרנסה בכבוד. כן כותב בעל 'אמרי נועם' מדזיקוב (חנוכה ח"א): "ידוע מה שהצדיקים אומרים אשר עת מוכשר להמשיך פרנסה טובה לישראל הוא 'זאת חנוכה', וכמו כן בשמיני עצרת שהוא שמיני של חג, מברכים הגשם הרומז על גשמיות ופרנסה, כי 'זאת חנוכה' (שהוא גם יום שמיני) הוא במלכות".

יום גמר החיתום

ביום זאת חנוכה יש סגולה מיוחדת ורבת תועלת לבני ישראל לכפר על עוונותיהם. חודש תשרי הוא חודש התשובה, ויום הכיפורים הוא יום חיתום הדין, אך חסדי ה' יתברך נמשכים עד הושענא רבה ושמיני עצרת. למרות שאין שום מקור לכך שחוט החסד הזה נמשך עד חנוכה, לא בש"ס ובמדרשים, לא בזוהר הקדוש ולא בכתבי האריז"ל, יש מסורה מדורי דורות שלפיה שערי תשובה עדיין פתוחים עד סוף ימי החנוכה.

כך למשל מובא בספר 'בית אהרן' (קרלין, חנוכה): "נר השמיני של חנוכה היא אותה בחינה עצמה של שמיני עצרת, ולכן אומרים הצדיקים שבחנוכה היא גמר חתימה". כן העיד בנו של בעל ה'בני יששכר', רבי דוד שפירא מדינוב, שאביו אמר בשם צדיקים שמראש חודש אלול עד חנוכה מאירה ברקיע כעין תבנית יד הפשוטה לקבל בעלי תשובה.

הכלל הגדול בסגולת 'זאת חנוכה' יוצא מדברי רבי ישראל מרוז'ין (נר ישראל ח"ב עמ' יח): "מה שצדיקים יכולים לפעול מה' יתברך בראש השנה ויום הכיפורים, יכול כל יהודי לפעול בזאת חנוכה".

I think that a key point mentioned here is that there is a MESORA that is not in the Shas or the Zohar or the Arizal's writings, but a MESORA for many generations that the gates of teshuva are open till the 8th day of Chanukah.
Whoever can read the Hebrew should. It's beautiful.

This isn't a source. It's been making its rounds for the past few years but isn't in the Kedushas Halevi anywhere.
