The kids prepare for everyone. They like to choose their own candles and we use the prefilled cups for those who light oil so it's very easy to set up.

Doing it themselves is part of the holiday experience for my kids (for me too, actually.) But DH is a bit of a compulsive doer so sometimes he gets there first and doesn't really get that it's not such a favor. So I'd say about half and half, differs day by day.

We use pre-filled oil cups. The gel kind that don't spill.
2 min before candle lighting each person puts the cups in his/her chanukiah, including my 5 year old.

We light only one menorah for the family.
I prepare the oil and wicks.
My husband knows I won't let him do that instead of me.
My special mitzvah. Smile

DH and the boys (8 & 10) prepare their own. We have various types of wicks as well as prepared cups. They each choose what they want that night. Only DD7 lit candles. She chose the colors and someone put foil around the bottom so they would stand straight.

My husband works in the afternoon and was unable to get off of work until well after 72 minutes. My teenage son set up everyone’s menorahs- my husband’s, his own, and the kids.

My teenage boys take turns preparing the oil menorahs, both theirs and my husband's. Whoever is doing it that day, does everyone's (5). My husband rarely does it himself.
The others have fun choosing their candles, easy enough for toddlers to set up their own.

Everyone does their own.
Even my 3 year old can put their candles into the spots on the disposable menorahs. And we use this as an opportunity to practice counting.
Not sure why any kid can’t do their own.
And when they get bigger and want oil it’s only at an age that they can do it alone. Approximately 8-9 years.
This year my teenager prepared my husbands most nights.

My boys do their own (oil)
I help my daughter do hers as it requires melting the candles a bit to stick them in
My 2 year old does his own (candles, no melting)
My husband does his own (oil) unless he hasn't had time and then my boys do it for him.

Why do your want or offer the prefilled cups?

Is there something wrong in buying pre-filled cups?
We use them.

Dh prepares the menoras together with our kids. It somehow adds to the excitement, that they do it all together.
