A 7yr old that sleeps extremely deeply and wakes up wet every morning. Weve tried no liquids in evening etc etc..
Are there any vitamins/ homeopathic stuff that works??
Anyone been to a bedwetting clinic?

I've tried Dr Sagie's online program with an alarm.
This was when DS was 12. It didn't work for us. In fact he suddenly became dry as soon as we gave up and stopped it after using it for 6 months.
But he has a good record, and people say it works.

That's why I'm recommending it even though it didn't work for us, although DS did make a very sudden turn for the better as soon as we stopped, so maybe it did do something.

Why do you need to do something ? Just put him on a pull-up. He will outgrow when he’s ready.

My boys were all in pull ups till at least 10. One of them even 13. They grow out of it when the bladder matures

My son almost 11 and still sometimes has accidents. He wore pull ups until about a year ago. I put him on medication for overnight camp - didn't work, he peed his way thru 2 months of camp. Also tried an alarm system, not de sagies, was way out of my budget. Didn't work.

It's a maturity process, he'll get there eventually. Hang in there.

So actually I don’t know this for sure, but Even though I hear a lot of people say this, I don’t think bedwetting is a sleeping too deeply issue. In fact, people who actually sleep very deeply, ideally their hypothalamus is supposed to tell their pituitary to crank up the vassopressin production, which is the hormone that tells the kidneys to concentrate urine and make much much less of it. Iow, we are not supposed to be making much urine at night at all, and ideally people shouldn’t need to wake to pee, and obviously not pee in their sleep. So in my understanding, bedwetting is often a not enough vassopressin issue, sometimes from actually not sleeping deeply enough.

Sleep apnea , tongue ties and mouth breathing are common causes of this, if the body has to constantly stay somewhat alert to compensate and keep airways open, it won’t reach REM sleep and won’t get the message to produce more vassopressin and stop urine production. So one thing to look at is oral structure and breathing. A myofunctional therapist, airway informed orthodontist or airway specialist can help with this.

Chronic infections and or nutrient deficiencies can also stress the hpa axis and autonomic nervous system so it doesn’t produce enough vassopressin. For this, you’d want to treat whatever infections and other sources of inflammation are present, and support the autonomic system with magnesium and thiamine. Strep is big for this, as well as yeast and parasites.

Then there are structural issues like weak core and pelvic floor, and retained primitive reflexes that can be looked at.

Desmopressin was the answer for our family.
I was starting to become resentful of washing linen everyday.

Interesting.. my son who bedwets is definitely the deepest sleeper I’ve ever met! I try waking him to go middle of the night and it’s impossible. So I always assumed that’s the culprit. If he IS a crazy deep sleeper, would you still look for other possible causes? Do PTs assess for potential weakness that can be causing?

First step is to go to a urologist and make sure everything is ok. Did you discuss with your pediatrician? They may tell you to wait a year and see if he outgrows it. 7 is still quite young.

This.

Also, a psychologist I am friends with, when I had a child wetting the bed past 3-4 yrs old (until ~8-9 yrs old) suggested having the child change/wash their clothes/sheets themselves (to an age appropriate extent)---NOT as a punishment, but to seat the responsibility and control with them.

He can be hard to wake but still not reaching deep enough sleep to stimulate vassopressin output. Does he have apnea, sleep with an open mouth, snore, noisy breathing or have large tonsils or adenoids?

My husband snores like a truck, 100% has apnea and is incredibly hard to wake.

I also noticed that on nights my son goes to sleep really late so is very tired he has accidents so I thought it’s because he’s in a much deeper sleep

My 9 year old DD still sleeps in pull-ups. I would never want to be washing sheets every day. She has been consistently wet for all these years. We tried an alarm for a little while and it didn’t help.

She seems like she might hopefully be growing out of it soon - multiple dry nights interspersed with wet. I’m just waiting until she’s ready at this point.
