BH for a tiny bit of peace of mind!
It’s good you were able to be in touch with people today …
I also promised myself I would never want to go back to my childhood neighborhood for many reasons. Recently I was alone with my kids for a while and ended up staying in my parents house. You know what? They liked being there! They felt very comfortable in the neighborhood. I was actually reconsidering my original decision.

Regarding the services offered for children with special needs, there is NO comparison between what's offered by the NYC school districts and what's offered elsewhere. I work for a NYC evaluation agency, and can tell you that the school districts are VERY generous with services. No comparison to even the rest of NY State (ex. Rockland County etc.)
Additionally, you probably qualify for SNAP benefits, Section 8 Housing (for which there's a waitlist), etc. Do your children qualify for SSI? OPWDD? HCBS services? These services could make a world of a difference... Also, I don't know the ages of your children, but they may qualify for UPK, headstart etc.
Oh, and if they require a special ed school, that's often funded by the government as well.
All in all, NYC is probably your most affordable choice!

Thanks. I’m with family right now.

The best help anyone could provide would be helping me achieve self sufficiency in Beachwood. I’m in touch with the local organizations. I need a job. Needs to be remote. I aim to start within a few weeks. Anyone know anything?

Skill set includes:

- Writing (including ghostwriting)

- Editing (developmental, line, copy)

- Writing coaching/teaching/tutoring/guiding new authors through the publication process, both self and traditional

- Technical writing, including API and GUI
documentation

- B2B, scientific writing

- Fundraising/brochure copy

I have a resume ready to share with anyone with leads. Thank you.

ETA the hug is from me because I appreciate the offer. Thank you.

A while back a poster here was talking about her very lucrative profession ghostwriting college essays. If that’s something you could withstand morally, you really should try to get in contact with her. Although now that I think about it, with chatGPT her whole business could be defunct by now.

If your kids have never been in Jewish school, they may qualify for Oorah Tuition as long as it’s an orthodox school. Between that and possible help from schools, if that expands your options, like let’s say to less expensive cities, that don’t have good public but have good Jewish, great.

Also, you might be able to have a conversation with them about connecting you to schools that might meet your needs. They have lots of relationships and resources and information.

Absolutely not. I specify on my freelance platform that I will not participate in academic ghostwriting. I would tutor people and help them edit their essays but not write essays FOR them. Nor will I write school papers or theses/dissertations. Help with editing, yes. Ghostwriting, NO. I believe it to be unethical.

Ive heard before about tutoring via Zoom Chinese kids in English, that it can be very lucrative.
If that's something interesting, maybe someone else can weigh in if they know any details how to pursue it.

I’m familiar with this and am actively working on putting classes together in a similar vein. Not quite this same thing, but similar.

In order to qualify for a mortgage I’ll need a steady job though, which is why at least for now I’d like to find a W2 position with high enough pay.

Was just about to post this. There are platforms that connect you with kids, provide a curriculum, and give you everything you need to do the job. It can be very lucrative, it's remote, and you ca choose how many (or how few) students to take on

For writing: I can comfortably tutor middle school and higher. Not sure how well zoom would work with younger kids, plus there are very different target areas. I’m sure I could pick it up, but haven’t done it yet.

Reading (English and Hebrew): Grade 1+

Psychology and related subjects: High school (including AP), college, and graduate level students.

Never really gave the rest of the tutoring wheel much thought… I’m sure there’s more but that’s what comes to mind immediately.

I see this job listed in a Lakewood magazine, maybe ask if it’s remote (or if you’d like I can email them to ask):
Writing position at woodpeckers crafts
Seeking full time writer for Amazon and website listings. Willing to train. Competitive salary. Great office environment pls send resume to hr@woodpeckerscrafts.com

If you send an awesome email maybe they’ll realize it’s worthwhile to go remote!
