I don't want to mention the name of the camp here...I

But if you have an 8th grade son going to a sleepaway camp that ends after RC Elul, unlike the 9th grade and up,
AND your son will be starting yeshiva before camp's end date,
AND it bothers you that your son will be missing the last few days,
AND that you will be paying for a few days that he can't even attend,
AND you think the camp's days make no sense..

PLEASE CALL THE CAMP AND SPEAK UP!
When people call, the director says majority of his campers start 9th grease a week after Rosh Chodesh Elul... Which makes no sense

The more people that call, the more chance of change there can be...

You make a great point... I just checked, camp ends Aug 20 and rosh Chodesh is Aug 17...
How can I know when mesivta starts? Anyone know when Chaim Berlin mesivta plans on starting?

Yes!!
Please post back, because the camp said that "most" of the incoming 9th graders have yeshiva starting later... That doesn't make any sense.
Wouldn't 9th grade start the same day as 10th?

OP do you know for sure that mesivta starts Rosh Chodesh? My boys in Lakewood do not , they start the next week . In my experience the camps synch the schedules with the
Mesivta start dates and vice versa.

That's my question. Where I live, mesivta starts rosh chodesh.
The camp claims that most of the boys go to mesivtas which start a week later.
So imas in lkwd and Bklyn, do your mesivtas really start a week after RC Elul?

(And if so, why do the boys going into 10th grade in the camp I'm looking into, finish camp earlier? Do your mesivtas have different start dates for different grades?)

Rosh Chodesh Elul is Thursday and Friday this year.
Most Mesivtas will likely start on Sunday. Some will start Sunday morning, some Sunday afternoon, some Sunday night. Possibly 1 or 2 places will start first thing Mon morning.
1 or 2 Mesivtas may start Fri- Rosh Chodesh, but it's not likely.
However, Mesivtas that a significant amount of boys dorm, they may start on Friday or at least have to be in the dorm Motzei Shabbos.

Each year, depending on the exact day of the week Rosh Chodesh falls out on, makes a difference.

My son's school in Brooklyn complained that some camps were starting before the school year is over this year (because they end camp before Rosh Chodesh) and to please pick a camp that respects the school calendar.
