Don't have a teen daughter yet but I heard they can only grow for up to 2 years after.

Girls have 2 years to grow from when they first get their period
Boys stop growing once they get facial hair

Mine got hers 3.5 years ago, at 11.5
She grew & looks like she's still growing. At least 4".
From this thread it sounds like it's totally not related at all.

I was 5”4 at 11 when got my period and grew maybe half inch more just under 5”5

I grew 3 inches after getting my period at 11.5 yrs old. I'm 5'4". My dd grew maybe 1-2 inches after getting hers at the same age. She's around 5'2" (which was pretty shocking because she was always the tallest in her class, and now she's the shortest. Then again, I also was always the tallest, and then became one of the medium/shorter girls in my school too.)

I don't think it's at the start of facial hair but once they have full facial hair they aren't growing anymore

That sounds about right for height, etc....except their shoulders. They'll be getting their shoulders for some years even after that.

My daughter suddenly grew about an inch when she was 19. All her nice clothes were suddenly too short.

I've heard this from others as well....doesn't sound like it's so hard and fast.

my doctor claims growth plates are open till age 25 regardless of facial hair etc
