Was wondering if anyone has suggestions for me. We recently moved to a new home, so don't have too much extra $$$, but living and dining room are soooo empty and bla and I really want to spruce them up a bit.
They are an L shaped area that are connected. I have a leather grey couch, a grey shag rug (that I could replace,) grey zebra shades on the windows, and a smallish grey dinette table and chairs.
The floor is brown wood-like vinyl, which I hate, but can't afford to change right now.
I also just got a modern chrome sputnik chandlier kind of thing.
What can I add on the walls above the couch and near the table? The walls are all empty and boring. Also looking for some kind of buffet/sideboard, and maybe a coffee table.
I am so bad with interior decorating lol, I never know what colors match. I keep seeing stuff with gold accents, but will that match a greyish room? Or does it all have to be silver/chrome? What other color can I bring in to the room? How do I bring it all together so it doesn't look like a bunch of mismatched hodge-podge decor?
All suggestions appreciated.

My room is grey furniture with all gold accents and I love it. I see it all over now. Look on wayfair, overstock they have good prices. I sort by price.

Some nice art pieces! Home goods or the like will have, or I've seen really nice things on elephantstock (and good prices!). Maybe a nice mirror too? Hard to say without seeing the room though

I think silver can fit in since the room is grey. Love that clock and painting. The plant holders look cool too. You don't need to have something fill up the whole wall. I would do a main piece, like a big painting and then maybe other small things on the sides or just leave it empty.

What about a panorama style art? It's usually a few pictures that together make a larger image.
Or having a focus wall where you have different sized art on the wall. Remember that minimalist usually looks better than a cluttered look. You might want to slowly add things over time.
Having a lamp by the couch with some pillows and throw makes it look more inviting.

Depends what kind of look you are going for. I personally like the minimalist clean look with pops of color. I would do Black picture frames with Black and white or grey scale photos. Add 1 or 2 green plants for some color. Add a colorful throw and some pillows. I would add one peice of furniture with a pop of color. I personally would look into a dark orange color or even a teal blue color.

There are some really affordable, modern art prints on ali, that have grey and gold, and then you can bring the gold in with other pieces
https://www.aliexpress.us/item.....to=US
I would ditch the Shag rug for something more up to date
If you are handy and good at diy, check out how this youtuber picks up outdated pieces from goodwill and updates them...
If you aren't check overstock, wayfair, ect.

Scruffy, I really like your style! I am totally piggybacking off of this thread, but my living room has a lot of similar things to what you posted. Can you post suggestions for a large entryway mirror and console table using a similar style (colors are navy, gold and grey).

Of all the online stores mentioned on this site, Ive heard and I read here, that Wayfair cust serv is terrible. If Wayfair furniture arrives damaged, theres no one to speak to, its hard to return, hard to get refunds, etc.
Which online stores are known for good Customer Service?

You should probably start a new thread instead of bumping up a year old one, to ask a new question that wasn’t the purpose of the old thread
