R‘ Steinman wrote in his will that he doesn’t recommend to name babies after him but also doesn’t forbid.
So do people do it? Have you met anyone who did?

Because you want to name after a tzadik and a big Rav.
Even if he says that he is not the tzadik he aspired to be, he is known for his modesty and was probably on a very high level and worth naming for.

Belz also has a Rebbe named Aharon. Are you sure they named after R Shteinman?

Yes, lots of little boys called Aharon Leib.
I asked my husband and he'd never heard not to. (We already have an Aharon so not relevant personally.)
