Please help me as I’m at my wits end:

How many naps does a 4 months old baby have to take? About?

This night he fell asleep finally at 10. Whimpered here n there but ate at 1:00, 4:00 & 7:00 and then he was up for the day. I tried putting him for a nap 8:30 and he cat napped. I tried again at a little later but that was a cat nap too. Then he slept from 3-4:30. I’m thinking of keeping him up till bedtime. Maybe he has a hard time falling asleep cuz he sleeps too often?

A 4 month olds wake windows are typically no longer than 1.5hrs. Cat naps are still typical at that age, one DS exclusively cat napped until we consolidated down to 2 naps at 7ish months. A 4 month old is just starting to understand that a routine could be a thing but they’re still so young that there isn’t anything that’s really a quick fix, every day is a new adventure

My 4 month old eats at 8:30, 11:30, 3, 6 and 9 and usually naps 9:00-11:30 then around 1, 4 and 7:30 and the naps are always different sometimes catnaps sometimes up to 2 hours I put her to sleep according to her cues, the last nap is usually around half hour.
She sleeps the night from about 10 till 8:30 with no feedings.
I tried cutting out the last nap and putting her to sleep earlier but that didn’t work, she ended up falling asleep just before or during her last feed and then waking up a short time later and then going to bed later overall.
At that age their wake windows are 1.5 -2 hours.
Until about 4-6 months babies need a lot of catnaps and a late bedtime.

Feed every 4 hours only 4 times a day but a lot per feeding. It's the 12 hours sleep by 13 weeks method. Worked with all my kids. U gotta read the book. My 4 month old takes 8 oz per feeding and sleeps 7 to 7
