So my kids had a checkup a few months ago and needed work done. 2 of them were scheduled for the same day but the dentist needed to cancel and rescheduled for 4 months later. Another one the dentist couldn’t finish the work in 1 appointment so he said to schedule another. But the next available appointment is also 4 months later.

I called asking about cancellations but apparently no one ever cancels (I don’t blame them)

I called a different practice but they said insurance won’t cover another checkup until 6 months have passed.

So what do I do? I’m worried.

Dr Danziger’s WhatsApp is a lifesaver. I message him with questions, concerns and send him X-rays sometimes too. I believe he works in Lakewood but don’t need to be his patient to follow or message

Call them that your child is in pain and you need an emergency appointment.

They insist there’s none available. I already begged—I guess I can beg harder

Should I be asking the office to send me the x rays? Would they email them?

Find another dentist. Drive further away if you have too. An untreated cavity can become a root canal.

I scheduled a checkup with another dentist in a few months. Yes it’s a lot further. Would they fill cavities if they didn’t do the checkup?

I took my kids to dr Danciger recently and was super impressed. Didn’t take long to get an appointment either.

Yes they are legally required to give you the X-rays, and WhatsApp is an app just like text, you just message

If you’re super worried and finances not a major issue you can always pay out of pocket for a checkup at another dentist without such a backup and then they’ll fill cavities ..

Call every morning to ask about cancellations. I do that at a very busy brooklyn practice & they told me they have cancelations almost daily ( which makes sense when you need to schedule so far in advance)

Honestly, I left a one star review on Google about the lack of appointments for dental work. After I left the review, I’ve been getting appointments much earlier (a few weeks vs 6+ Months out).
