Hi Ladies!

I saw a recipe for brisket and was thinking to use rib steaks instead (bone in).
I don't know much about meat, so if you can tell me if you think it'll work out please let me know!

I'm rubbing oil, salt and pepper on the meat.
Then covering it with a sauce of equal parts of mayo, ketchup, duck sauce and honey; mustard and lemon juice.
I want to bake it in the oven.

How long did you bake it, and at what temp was the oven on?
I'm a bit clueless when it comes to meats...

Please don’t do this! Rib steaks are delicious grilled or seared, any type of quick, high heat cooking. Brisket is meant to be cooked low and slow, a method used for cheap cuts of meat that need a long cooking time to make them delicious. Save that recipe for a real brisket or chuck roast or any other cheaper cut. For the steaks, salt, pepper, and a quick sear on high heat to get a nice crust will be delicious.

Nooooo you don't cook rib steaks like brisket. A rib steak is delicious you sear it fast in a super high heat. Salt, pepper, I like trader joes coffee rub and high heat cooking will be delicious. Super tender.

Brisket needs to be braised for hours its a very tough meat. You cant compare them at all.

No. Rib steaks are meant to be broiled. It’s not a roast or brisket

I think the confusion is what exactly the cut is

If it is actually a rib steak, it is a tender cut that is meant to be seared quickly medium rare.

If it is another cut that is tough then you need to braise it. If you braise a rib steak it is a waste of a beautiful cut.

What I have learned in imamother is that there are names for cuts of meat that aren’t universally used and so it can be confusing. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

You can broil the rib steaks in the oven or sear them in a pan. If you have a grill pan, you can cook the steaks in the grill pan.
But I wouldn't bake rib steaks in a sauce like brisket.

Is this what it looks like.

If so, it is a steak and should be grilled, seared or broiled medium rare.

It should not be braised or roasted like a brisket

Can I broil it with the sauce, or do I need to find a rub recipe?
