I don't know if I should put this in the finance section or the housekeeping section.
I need help in both areas. It might be a combination of mild ADD and lack of clear systems.

Right now, I have baskets and baskets of unopened envelopes. They contain bills and who knows what else.
Whenever I try to tackle them, I just get weak.

Part of the problem is that I often don't have the money to pay these bills. So I shelve them and then I don't get back to them. I am constantly getting calls from debt collectors. Between my husband and I, we make a decent living but we still can't make it to the end of thw month.

Has anyone been in my place and gotten out of it? If yes, how?

Please no judgement.

I can’t afford to pay all my bills but I still open them so I can see if interest and late fees are being added.
I try to make payment plans for $25 a month and pay off large bills slowly but at least I know it won’t end up in collections or accrue more fees which put us deeper in debt.
I settled with my CC company to lower my interest rate to 2%.

Perhaps deal with one type of bill at a time?
Day 1 sort in piles of duplicates
Day 2 start with 1 bill, say electric. Open latest, is it all on there? Trash rest. Pay bill
Day 3 next bill, say Dr A. Open, review and trash. Pay if you can. If not do a phone call saying you are aware and will get to it
Treat time.
Etc etc

You may need to cut down on non necessities so you have funds to outstanding debt.

Option, open 0apr cc bill, pay most (all?) Bills off. Pay off cc slowly, before interest is due
You may need a financial planner or someone to help you budget
