Is this age appropriate or something to keep an eye on? Like if I say I’m so tired I can’t move he’ll ask me how I’m going to get to bed if I can’t move. He is asking a sincere question. Every time I use an expression he understands it literally. I feel like how is he supposed to know that it’s an expression but I’m a first time mom and a little unsure.

Totally normal. They don’t get the difference between a joke or a lie either and get confused when you say something funny.
My almost 6 year old is much better now than he was when he was closer to 5

He's a little kid and hasn't learned the meaning of hyperbole yet. There's nothing wrong with him. Just explain to him that major exaggeration is a way of making a point. when he's in middle school, he may decide to be a wiseguy and pretend he doesn't understand hyperbole, either.

My 7 year old is the same way, colloquialism is Japanese to her.
"Ima you can't throw a party, because how could you throw an action?"
Girls in her class say they're flying motzi shabbos. My daughter's like ??????
On shabbat we had a dip called Greek salad and she's like that's not possible, no one Greek is in the salad.

Dear Lord give me the strength.

Lol. Party is another victim of noun-verbing.
