I have a school tea tonight.
I don't really know any of the parents.
I met some at orientation/pta, but that's it.
Plus I'll have to come like half an hour late. Do I have to go? Is it OK if I come late? What do I wear?
Major social anxiety here.

I never go. I hate big social situations especially in the evening.

Reasons to go
It means a lot to the members of the pta when parents show up.
They often give prizes for the kids and your daughter will feel left out when everyone else has the hairband or bracelet and she doesn't.
They sometimes raffle off prizes for the class.
If you get to know even one other parent this night, it will be worth it.

My daughter's school is a newish school and is getting bigger. In the past, I felt like a part of things when I went to the teas.
this year, the room was pretty dark, very full.. I basically only saw people at my table. could have skipped it all together
