Is there any place with affordable housing within one hours drive of Manhattan?
What's the most affordable place to buy or rent?
In New Jersey or New York or anywhere within 1 hour of Manhattan
Please tell me more
Also how much needs to be put down and how much is monthly mortgage approximately?
Preferably with kosher food options

Which part of Manhattan do you need to be near? It can take an hour just to get from one end of Manhattan to the other so this makes a difference. And are you looking to take a car or train?
But yes I would look at NJ suburbs.

Far Rockaway is not an hour from Manhattan if you're traveling anywhere near rush hour.
Edit: I never tried by ferry. Is the ferry less than an hour to get anywhere useful?
