I was told by 2 rebbeim that the current menahel does not allow hitting.
Is this true?

Thinking of it as an option and definitely don't want to send if there is hitting involved.

I think it’s an official rule but I’m not sure if every rebbe adheres to it. I think they do.
I did notice a trend though. Those rebbeim who used to resort to hitting , but now can’t because of policies put in end up using verbal and emotional abuse . I’m not talking about this school particularly. I’ve noticed it in a few schools, yeshivas etc.

Do you find that there is emotional or verbal abuse used instead?

Obviously I can’t vouch for each and every person, but in my experience staff is approachable and helpful and engaged. My sons had great experiences with a variety of rebbes and staff people- down to the secretary in the afternoon who acts like a sort of bubby and hands out cookies!
I found the staff available to help and appreciate in a very big way the on staff social workers.

I agree that the office staff are very warm and kind.
Also lots of the melamdim are wonderful. Like everywhere , there may be a rebbe that doesn’t jive with your kid. That’s when things could be challenging .
Also I just asked my kids about hitting .
One son received one potch from a menahel when he was in the younger age group. Never again. He claims he did see kids getting hit , even when he was in 8th grade. He’s out of there for 3 years .
And my other son who’s there , got a potch 2 years ago from a rebbe.
He said he got 2 petch all the years .
So like I said, it’s gotten a lot better since years ago since that was the old school way of doing things. But here and there in a moment of not thinking they resort to it . (Especially the ones that are older and have been there for decades).

My son has ADHD and not the easiest kid and has never been hit. If he would have both my husband and myself would have been calling the place and not been very happy so perhaps they know not to?

My friend's son had a situation in the 8th grade with and my friend and her husband were extremely grateful to the menahel for his handling of the matter. No personal experience but my friend has only positive things to say.
