The additional premium to add a new driver will largely depend on where you live. Note that if you are adding your son and he is away at yeshiva, you should tell the insurance company that he is a student living in a dorm as the premium will be reduced. For girls and boys going to EY, they can be taken off the insurance while they are away and are still allowed to drive if home for short periods, like Pesach. When they are back in the U.S. for good, they should be added back to the policy. You can remove and add drivers an unlimited number of times.

If you don't allow your child to drive your car even after they have a license, your insurance rates won't go up.
However if you do permit your child to drive, you must tell the insurance company even if they drive for limited periods of time.
If there is any kind of accident, there would be no coverage
