Old original wood towel bar has chipping paint. I guess we have two choices:
Sand it down and paint.
Sand it down and cover.

If we paint, what's the best paint for a bathroom
If we cover, what material should we use?

Hi! It’s better to sand and repaint. Try a waterproof latex paint for best results.
Towel rods are very inexpensive at Amazon and build.com. It might be less expensive to buy and hang a new one than to buy the paint.
