Average height. 43 inches. And for a 5yo would you do with training wheels or without?

In terms of training wheels vs 2 wheeler, it depends on your son's prior experience. Has he biked before, is he good with a balance bike, etc. Best to buy one with training wheels, in case he is not ready for 2-wheeler.
I have found that my kids were happy with Royal Baby and Segway bikes at that age.

Most bikes up to 16 inch comes with training wheels that you can take off. I would try to get a 14 inch but they are rare. Or else a 16 inch will be a bit big but will grow into it fast.
