For little kids? Where I work I see kids coming in with dirty yarmulkas and it gets me so nauseated. I let mime wear one and switch off every day. I wash when I'm out of yarmulkas

I have plain velvet yarmulkas. Wash every night and dry for a second and replace every 3 months.
Maybe I’m ocd (or neurotic) but they come home and it’s quite dirty and sometimes smells too.

When it gets dirty. Or if he gets sweaty that day. On every erev shabbos after bath it's always a fresh one.
My son is 3.

Ours have occasionally ended up in the washing machine accidentally and they’ve dried ok, but I don’t purposely put them in. I spot clean as necessary, and they’re ok for at least the season. When they get gross they’re replaced. My boys will sleep in the older ones. DH also replaces his every so often.

If they end up in the wash here they get destroyed. I spot treat from time to time. I hope no one is smelling my kids yarmulkas

What's the magic trick. If I wash even on delicate it shrinks. And if I don't dry the velvet doesn't look fluffy it looks rough. My boys where black velvet. Any helpful imamother can give me instructions so it won't get ruined?

I wash them in a mesh bag on delicate with the rest of our clothing. They come out just fine. Though I don’t do them often or often enough….
