As a follow up
Would you be upset if a trusted adult gave your 9/10yo their code?

I'd be mad. Even my 18 yr old kids don't have the password to my phone, dh's phone or to laptop.

My phone is a flip phone and it doesn't have a password. So yes, anyone can read my texts. My kids do know the code to my computer, but that is filtered, and it's in the dining room where everyone can see it.

During lockdown when my kids were having lessons online for school, I gave them the password to my laptop and PC so I didn't have to keep running back and forth between rooms to unlock the screen while trying to keep my pre-schooler busy.

At the end of one lesson, the teacher asked if anyone wanted to say anything and my son announced my password to the whole class LOL

I've now got a new password Wink

For future reference... You can make a separate profile for your kid with their own password..or none at all.

Yes.
My son is 7 and doesn’t read English.

There’s nothing interesting for him on it.
I don’t have a home phone and he uses it to call my husband sometimes.

When he gets older I’ll change the password.
