I am newly married and a bit of an anxious flyer . I’m planning on wearing my fall with a beanie on top.
Will they make issues for me by security? Will they make me take my hat off?

They might ask you to take it off, you can say it's for religious reasons and they might need to pat you down. I would just remove the hat and show the black part for a few minutes.

They asked me to remove my hat sometimes. Or to pay it down.
The less of an issue you make, the better off you are.
Obviously I wouldn’t remove my wig. But my hat no problem.

If you’re flying from a frum place tsa knows. Of course I live out of town and when I said I was wearing a wig they said oh I’m so sorry (thought I had a sickness or something) and that was that. I’ve had issues with sweaters and wearing a short sleeve she’ll so I say it’s for religious reasons and either they let me go or a lady wands me. I could write a comedy book about flying while frum lol

I always wear a tichel or mitpachat when I fly. I still don’t understand how people can wear a shaital without it looking like a dead animal by the time they get off the plane. (Yet somehow the woman next to me looked dewy fresh and beautiful after 12 hours- teach me your secrets!!!) I have never had an issue. They pat my head and wand it. I am easygoing so I couldn’t care less.

Do wigs cause problems in general?
My wig has small metal hair clips and I’m always worried that I won’t be able to pass the metal detectors.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. I once flew and the lady tsa was convinced her wand was broken cuz it was beeping by the head and not the bra, she called everyone over so they could see the broken wand…

They'll be extra cautious about what's under the hat so remove all metal (hair pin holding up your pony, and possibly clips from shaitel).
If you do leave a metal pin underneath, be prepared to be taken to a private examination room where you'll show them you're wearing a wig underneath.
