To Israel it got cancelled last minute.
I guess they don't want to fly back empty, since there are no outgoing flights.

The airport isn't accepting any incoming flights, except those that were already in the air when they declared a strike.

My father is meant to come on Wednesday, so hoping things will have settled a bit by then.

My cousin is stuck in the airport. She was meant to leave israel for a trip she worked hard for and saved up for. I hope she doesn’t lose it completely.

Can he take a boat to Cyprus, then fly out of their airport? Even if Cyprus doesn't have frequent flights to the US, he should be able to connect to somewhere like Italy that does...

Or take a taxi to Amman (Jordan) and fly out of that airport? I've flown out of Jordan before as do many Jews including obviously religious Jews.

At least the borders aren't closed, so this is not the same as in 2020 lockdown when you really could not legally get out.

Im asking seriously as an outsider.

It seems like this is the tourist "busy season". Pesach in Israel.
So how long realistically are strikes going to last that are actively destroyed the tourism economy

Since about mid morning.

They probably took people who had already checked in.

Possible, but less practical. Amman, where Jordan's international airport is, is really quite a short drive from Jerusalem (and thus central Israel as well). Cairo, not so much.

Until the government backs down and cancels the judicial reform...
These left wing activists are brutal.
On the other hand, they are probably hurting their own 'side' more than the other, since it's more the secular left wing that fly abroad for the chagim, than the religious/ right wing.

The airport reopened Sunday evening.

sorry but we would not be comfortable going into cairo or jordan in order to fly in or out.
also if protesters can shut down BG airport theres a bigger issue at hand here.
