I’m clearing out some cabinets now , they were cabinets that held pots and pans and plastic containers. Can I just wash and dry and then put pesach stuff inside or I need to line everything first?

Ask your Rabbi
There's a lot of tradition and chumras on Pesach

Im sefardi
I dont line anything. Just take everything out and bleach it. And then lock the cabinets
I think some people are a little over the top...

If the cabinets are smooth, as most are, then there's no need to cover. Some do, just for nostalgia. You can simply put down a piece of newspaper.

If you lock it, for sure you don't need to do anything.

Many people line the cabinets, and then keep the liners all year. The next year, you just yank them up which saves lots of scrubbing, and put a new layer down. So it has practical help.

I'm Ashkenazi, go according to our Rav, don't line any cupboards. Only surfaces which touches food directly. All the food in the cupboard comes in boxes bags or cans.

I don't line any cabinets or drawers. Just spray with cleanser and wipe clean. Put in Pesach products.

I’m pretty sure my MIL lines everything. I line whatever shelves I’m using in my cabinets. I don’t use cabinets that also have chametz in them.
