What temperature do you keep your oven on if you will be keeping it on for the first 3 days of Yom Tov ?

Some ovens have a sabbath mode that allows for changing the temperature. The downside is that (on my GE, at least) the display is off so you can't see when it gets to a particular temperature. Check your owners' manual.

For those who don't want to keep an oven on, Sternos are wonderful!

This is brilliant for warming up but doesn’t work for actually cooking/baking something

PSA: make sure you open windows open during the day so the carbon monoxide alarm doesn't go off. ( I had this happen twice on the third day of a 3 day YT

I don't bake anything fresh. Oven is only used to reheat food.

I often keep it on 350.

To be honest it can blow out the igniter, and this has happened to me.

I just get nervous because my flame blows out often and then I need to use the oven to cook.

300. It's a good temp for me to cook things fresh (I have made baked shnitzel and potatos many times) and also warm things up.

Or you can run your vent hood on low.

We have old-fashioned all gas ranges where you can raise and lower the temperature easily on Yom Tov — no Sabbath mode needed. There are very few ranges like this currently in production. Bluestar and Wolf, which are both high-end, and maybe a few catering to people off the grid.

For those who are using the oven only to reheat, 225° F works well.

I leave it on 250, low enough to heat up slowly and high enough to cook if good is left in long enough. And it doesn't make the kitchen too hot.

250 doesn’t really do much either….it takes hours and hours. Sterno takes longer probably, but someone leaving their oven on low is probably not looking to cook or bake. That would have to be at least 300° or 350°, I would think.
I leave mine on 250

Thanks for this thread - I was about to start one similar. Can I add a question to this? Could people post here in addition to what temperature they leave the oven on, HOW MUCH TIME do you generally leave the food in the oven for at this temperature and if could clarify for food that is uncooked, cooked but frozen, cooked but defrosted..types of foods. TIA!
