If you’re in a job that deals with customers, do you feel you’re nice to them because that’s you or because you have to?

Depends on the situation. Generally im nice because why be nasty if you can be nice. Sometimes when a customer is out of line we work extra hard to be nice.
Being curt is never worth the detrimental ramifications of a bad review

I am nice to the customers faces and then I go to the back and I so to my co-worker you would not believe what this customer just said
No not really the truth is. Thank God I don't have to deal with customer so often but I do try to find that balance between being absolutely nice and being like I'm sorry you can't read

Nice and polite but firm in the company’s policies.
