Don't conflate seminary with EY. There are seminaries chutz la'aretz and they don't all have Israel trips. Or didn't used to.

I don't see why it's necessary to wait till seminary age to teach those "textual skills." Boys start learning them practically from birth.

I wrote previously I am
Who I am only because of seminary. I’d like to expand and qualify my response
1. I did not go to seminary in EY
2. It was not an easy year. We had a classmate who passed away mid- year
3. I was forced to develop a toughness and a strength that I did not have before. A core I was forced to lean on through many many hair- curlingly challenging times since.
4. My parents are incredible people
