He seems uncomfortable and it's keeping him from falling asleep. It's been happening for a couple of nights now.
It happens in the middle of the night as well. (He's always been awakening at night, but now he's thrashing his legs and taking ages to get back to sleep.)
In the daytime he seems totally fine. Any idea what could be wrong?

Check for worms. He might be itchy and uncomfortable.

That could be a magnesium deficiency or an iron deficiency.
Possibly pinworms.
Are they a mouth breather?

Have his iron levels checked.
Dd has restless legs syndrome (diagnosed with sleep study) and is worse when her iron is low.

If it's because of low iron, would he be doing it when sleeping or awake?
I think he's only doing it when he's up or half up. Not while in a deep sleep.
