I stopped printing receipts. I'm not buying the books I'd check out of the I=library anyway.

Spend 5 minutes on booktok (the book lovers corner on tiktok) and you will see how much people spend on books. Tiktok users alone brought barnes and nobles back from failing to thriving. Over-consumption is a huge issue, people 100% spend in a crazy way on books.

I read some were that people buy books because they are buying the illusion that they will have the time to read them.

Um.... This is a for fun kind if thing. I don't think anyone really means you would actually buy all the books, just what it would cost if you did.

There's a reason I put this in Entertainment...

I wish my library did that! It's just an illusion because I would never buy all the books that I read. If I had to buy them I'd probably buy them used and read very few books at all. Or I'd become a real pest and borrow from people who do buy. Just the same, it would be fun to know the dollar value of all that I do read.

I wasn't sure but they have a calculator and also tell how many checkouts. I've checked out 4500 books and that would equal way more, so must be from only part of my history.

I wonder if you borrow the same thing more than once do they add the amount each time. There’s some kids books I’ve borrowed a good dozen times
