I know someone who was in a similar situation. I was moving out of my apartment and the next day they moved in. The apartment wasn't painted or anything. I would suggest that you ask around, maybe someone is moving and you could stay there between tenants.
Another option is to call the management of different buildings and explain the situation. They may have an apartment that is temporarily available. For example Gertners, NP Management etc.
