IYH we're going to San Francisco next week and we found a long list of kosher establishments with a bunch of different hechshers on them. Does anyone know which ones are reliable? Or a way that I could find that out?

Kosher restaurants in San Francisco tend to come and go. I'd check with Rabbi Eidlitz at kosherquest.org. He in located in Los Angeles and publishes a monthly kashrus newletter. His website usually has travel information for the entire West Coast. If the website isn't up to date, I'd email him directly with questions about reliable heckshers and the current status of SF restaurants. (I live in his community and he is highly respected on all matters of kashrus.)

When is your list from? The last time we were in SF the only kosher place left was the Israeli restaurant upstairs in Chinatown. Everything else on the list was non-existant and that was about four or five years ago. Good luck.

There's also a hechsher given by a local rabbi which I'm told can be relied on (though I can't for the life of me remember who...Yaacov someone I think). There's a kosher grocery in Oakland (just across the Bay), and when my boss travelled I ordered on Kosher.com for her and had it delivered to the hotel she was staying at.
