Use this : everyone makes a fist. That is the amount of protein to eat at supper
Add this: one green item at every meal . Yes pickles count
Try this: one healthy school snack for first break
Baked shnitzel, brown rice and broccoli is popular in my house
Set the table
Have a snack waiting when the child comes home (frilly toothpicks are great for making veggies fun)
Chummus is healthier than mayo based dressing
IF YOU HIDE CHOCOLATE IN YOUR CLOSET THE KIDS WILL LNOW

Serve salad without mayonnaise or store dressing.

Just drizzle of olive oil, squeeze of lemon or vinegar

Salt, pepper, garlic powder.

You can also add marinated salads like cucumber salad, beet salad or health salad.

Bake sweet potato for side dish.

Or roast some veggies, sliced zuchinni, pepper,
Parsnips, carrots, eggplant, tomato, sliced onion

Spray with olive oil, sprinkle salt n pepper.

Don't keep junk food in house.

Buy good fruit, watermellon, mango, cantaloupe,
Honeydew, cherries, nectarines. Fresh pineapple

Have some veggies and chummos.

Fruit is not a good thing to load up on when trying to lose weight anyway.

Healthy is a catch all term. It can mean so many things. Also, if you eat enough of any thing, you will gain weight - even if its healty food.

Instead of dressing on a fresh salad I mash in an avocado. Instead of mayonnaise in tuna salad I mash in an avocado.

Wow! your kids all have such well developed palettes.

I never thought my kids were picky but they would never eat most foods posted here.

Most kids naturally prefer more processed foods but you can get them used to eating this way with repeated exposures.

Healthy suppers that my kids love

1 Grilled chicken salad in a pita can be whole wheat toasted
I make it in the grill pan add lots of pickles if your kids like

2 chicken and broccoli the recipe from Natasha‘s cooking is really good and whichever vegetables your kids like I make it with dark chicken keeps everything much more moist

3 Make your own pizza with lots of vegetables you can make on whole wheat dough if they will eat it
Or if your kids are OK much easier way of doing this is just on an open Pita
4. Have crunchy healthy foods available instead of chips I find that sometimes you just need a good crunch if you have the munchies some ideas are
Snap peas
Veggie sticks
Persian cucumbers
Breadsticks
Flatbreads
Nuts
A great dessert is mango strawberry smoothie frozen and then partially thawed it is delicious and filling

Just cut back on the oil and fat content… stay away from lots of sugary foods and high carbs
Find an alternative to potato chips and cake/cookies…
