Where can I purchase temerindi sauce in the Lakewood, NJ (South Central Jersey) area if I don't want to travel back to Deal for it?
Thanks.

I mean the sauce that's made from the tamarind plant. Used in Syrian recipes.

You can substitute 1 part lemon juice, 1 part sugar and 1 part prune butter if you can't find the real stuff. You might want to try Shifra Mizrahi, who sells Syrian foods (I don't have the #, but you can look it up in the Lakewood phone book).

They had it in Shoprite next to the meat a couple weeks ago! Works perfectly! It is from Setton Farms.
