I guess this probably would be better off in the israeli section, but americans who have a knowledge of israeli culture probably would be able to help me.
I'm having an english speaking gan in my home, for kids 1.5-2 years old. The kids are all from american families.
What should the kids call me?
Definitely not Mrs. [Last name]. I'll tell you, I dont know if I like the idea of kids calling me by my first name, but I do know thats often done in israel. Can I be called "Morah" or is that just weird?

What do you suggest these little kids call me?

what about mrs/madam without the surname?
That's the only way I've heard here, except maybe in very young classes where it would be first name or "maitresse" (teacher).

No problem with Morah Seraph aside for it being too long for 1.5 to 2 year olds to pronounce, imo... Bh my name is easy to pronounce and only 2 sylables...

Morah is fine, though in ganim in Israel most teachers go by the 1st name.

I had Morah Blanka, Morah Esther growing up. My sons had Morah Leah (came out Molahlaya), Morah Marlene (Mobaglaine), Morah Gross (older woman used her last name), Morah Tsipi, Morah Devorah, etc. Nothing wrong with Morah and your first name Seraph. I think that only the "older" ladies used Morah with their last name.

I think Morah's fine. If you think it's too formal, here in England preschool teachers are often called 'Aunty'. Unless you have an issue with the Hebrew, you can be Doda Seraph. I've also been called Mrs. and my name (Mrs Stepmum), so less formal than Mrs. Last Name.

I have quite a long first name, and the kids just abbreviated it (they called me Morah, and then however they pronounced my name) it was really cute.
If you introduce yourself as Morah Firstname, they will probably land up either abbreviating it themselves, or just calling you Morah.
