For the first amother - why don't you call the local high school and offer your services as a subsitute. They pay better and then you work your way into the school.

Substituting is the hardest teaching there is. You don't know the kids at all and sometimes they see it as an oppurtunity to let loose and have fun torturing you. Especially if someone is not confident in their ability to "be an actress" and control the classroom... I would not recommend this.
If you are a regular teacher, at least you get a fair chance starting out.
