Well, I noticed a huge leak around the island of my kitchen. So, I went and called the plumber who came and readjusted the faucet for about five minutes and charged me $95. I was upset because a handyman could have done it for $20.

So who does repairs in your house? How do you know who to call? What about major things- roof, basement waterproofing, drywall, bathrooms etc. How do you know who to call? I am a single mom and this makes me nuts. I always feel I am getting gypped.

I honestly wouldn't be able to learn this myself. I'm so not good at this stuff. Maybe change a lightbulb, but that's it. Not my strength. How do you do it?

I learnt to do a lot of repairs myself. If I need a repair man I take some estimates over the phone to see who's the cheapest for the job.

Are you sure they would do it for $20 ? If the handyman is in your home for another job maybe but I doubt anyone would make a house call for only $20 (Then again..I live in a different area)
