Does anybody have great oven baked rice recipes that do not include any soup mixes and are not baked under a pan of chicken?
I used to make delicious rice recipes with loads of soup mix, but since I have stopped using them (I don't use the MSG free soup mixes either) I am having trouble making oven baked rice that my husband enjoys. When I am in a bind, I place the rice under the chicken, but we honestly do not need the extra cholesterol.
Any recipes or ideas? I'll take as many as you have to offer!

oil and soy sauce, garlic powder salt and pepper. chop an onion and put on silver foil and bake uncovered until golden, a few minutes - add to done rice.

Flowerpower, I don't see any posts in the "Kugels and Side Dishes" forum authored by you. Can you help me find your recipe?
Wow Shaklee, I never realized you can "saute" an onion in the oven! Thanks. So you place the chopped onion by itself on a silver foil and then add the onions to the rice when done? I will definitely try this and report back to you.

Per one cup of rice:
2 cups water
1 tsp. salt
1 Tb (or more) oil
garlic powder
(paprika if you want to make it red)
bake covered until ready (like 1.5 hours - this is for brown (basmati) rice.)
The trick is the oil, makes it nice and delicious. The spices add flavor, too. If it bakes too long, the oil disappears (not sure how!) and the rice isn't as good - gets kind of dry.
