Isn't it kool to have a parsha named after you. Yisro earned this by realizing the miracles that happened to b'nei yisroel and changing his life accordingly. When b'nei yisroel crossed the red sea and amalek showed total disregard to Hashem's miracles for the jews by waging war against them, they got punished. Yisro took this as a lesson and turned around his life. This is a lesson that from negtative behaviors we can learn to be good.
