My 13-month-old son loves to hit and bang on things. The problem is that he hits other children and myself as well. How can I teach him that it's ok to hit objects but not people?

Hitting everything around them, is very common with young children, who are testing their surroundings for some different reactions. I would respond only to the hitting of people by providing the reaction for them. It should be: OUCH loud and clear!...If you feel that he
damages the furniture you can ouch it too..

Also, it helps with my children to explain that these are Hashem's toys and we have to take care of them. To pretend that we're crying for a second they realize that it hurts. Maybe.
