I am going to NYC for a week with my 2 sons (ages 10 and 8 ), they are going to Gan Isroel NY camp. Before camp we are spending a week in the city, visiting friends and relatives. My information about NYC is outdated and I would appreciate some help and advise.

I have few questions about places for us to go, some shopping and activities .

Questions about Crown Heights:

-which shuls would you recommend for the boys to daven at (around Albany/Montgomery), do you know shacharis times?
-besides JCM , LYO library , any other meaningful activities for us to do, places to go?
-which store or who (name, address) has large variety of snoods and tichels.

Questions about Borough Park:

-where is Children's Jewish Library?
-which store or who (name, address) has large variety of snoods and tichels
-where can I find affordable robes?
-besides shopping (which I hate), what else can we do in BP?

Where can we go in Manhattan?

Any other ideas?

Also, is there any way to get to Monsey from Brooklyn/Manhattan?

Thanks a lot!

sorry I can't be a major help, but you can get snoods around the Avenue J area in Leggacy. IN Boro Park you can get a robe at Rosenbergs (I think that's what it's called).
Also, you can go to botanic gardens
good luck and have fun

Thank you for information, amother, it's very helpful!

BVH, botanical gardens - is a good idea!

GR, yes, I am staying in CH, in someone's apartment (who lives in Arizona now), I would love to come over and say hi or meet with you somewhere in CH. I will get in touch with you via PM.

I will not rent a car (with traffic, parking) - waste of time and money. We will walk and use public transportation.

Thank you for your help!

770 Montgomery Street (bet. Albany & Troy) has a minyan at 6:45 & another one sometime after, maybe 7:45.

If you can, there is more to look & do in Manhattan & the trains are easy.

Where do you want to go in Manhattan?

It's very easy to get to Manhattan from Crown Heights, it only takes around a half hour via the 2,3,4,5 train.

Some things to do in manhattan:

-A great day trip- visit the staue of liberty/ellis island - take the subway to battery park and take a boat from there- and while you are in the area, there is a jewish museum right there next to battery park called The Museum of Jewish Heritage (I think).

-central park- there is a zoo etc.

-the natural history museum at 81st and central park, there is also a great planetarium there, and an imax

-sony wonder labs - hands on technology exhibits for kids (somewhere in the 50's on the eastside)

-shopping at macys in herald square- can be overwhelming because it is so huge, but a fun experience.

- in crown heights to buy snoods- the sock store on kingston near union.

Have a great trip!

Roza, In Crown heights you can visit the Jewish Childrens Museum- your kids will have a blast. There's the Botanical Gardens and across the street is the Brooklyn Zoo.

If you wish to take the kids to the Coney Island area (and you talk their language there too Wink There's the beach for one , Aquarium and the Rides.

You could always take your kids to the regular Childrens Museum. Just walk up Brooklyn Ave., signs will show you where to go.
