We currently have cablevision for our phone and internet but the promo. is over so it's getting expensive does anyone have a good unlimited national and local plan?

we have packet8, its a phone line through the computer. once you have a dsl line, you can get a plan for 20 a month, unlimited to us and canada, voicemail, caller id and the works. also check out vonage.com, its the same thing. and im sure there are more.

I know a lot of people who have had luck extending their promo for an extra year or two just by threatening to cancel.

Oh yeah? Good Luck, my Bro in law called up to sign up for their triple play, wanted the little extras included they were offering me way back when I got it, and they totally refused, even if he threatened to forget the whole thing and not sign up at all. And trust me my BIL doesn't take no for an answer easily, but after awhile even he gave up. But it doesn't hurt to try

I have phone service from cucumber. 1800cucumber. a portion goes to oorah. I don' tknow if they have dsl

you must register your number, it takes two seconds and its done
I have vonage, once when I had a problem I called and they were so nice. Defy, give them a call mybe they can send you new box
