How do you avoid kids getting sunscreen in their eyes when they're playing with water?
I used baby suscreen - shouldn't it be tear free? although it says it's waterproof, while playing with water, my 2 year old ended up with eyes that got irritated!

Don't you put it in your palm of your hand first. Perhaps just do the cheeks and forehead with a little less and see if that makes a difference.

My granddaughter wiped her eyes with her hand that had sunscreen on it and it got in her eyes.

oh my goodness! brachaV, I had the same problem!!!
My daughter's eyes were irritated for over an hour & I gave her benadryl.

I was so upset because it's children's sunscreen! it should be tear free.

by the way, was it a spray?

My sis says the spray ones (even through u spray in ur hands & then apply) makes them tear & the regular one doesn't.... just wondering if she's right. mine was a spray.

the spray being alcohol based may sting eyes for a moment when you put it on b/c the alcohol vapors are getting in (happens to me, too, and I only put it on the sides of my face). but any sunblock will sting if it actually gets in the eyes. Yes, you'd think a baby sunblock should be tear-free, but if it's the sunblock compound itself, not the vehicle (lotion, alcohol, whatever), there's nothing you can do about that.

I had the same prob. with my son. Every time he got water in his eyes he would rub his eyes with his hands and his eyes would get all irritated. I think I just wont put any sunblock on his hands.

If you find any that is gentler, please let us know!

Apply the sunscreen a little earlier, that way it's absorbed in the skin by the time the kids are in the water.
In any case, don't get the 'stick' sunscreen (although it sounds more practical) I ended up with red n' white stripes on my legs after using it!
