As the title says, I am in search of a desktop and lap top computer.
It will be basically be used for emails, Id like a DVD player as well (for the kids)
I prefer a flatscreen Monitor for the lap top.
Looking to spend as little as possible!

you have to know the specs b4 buying a computer/laptop. sometimes cheap is expensive.

Do you want a laptop or a desktop? Or do you need both?
All laptops use flat screen monitors. The heavier and smaller the laptop, the lower the price is likely to be. Wireless and CD/DVD player are fairly standard, unless you are getting a netbook (smaller and cheaper, but don't have optical media.)
For a desktop you can get a CRT or flatscreen, but the standard today is flatscreen.
What else are you planning to do with this equipment? What are you using this for (ie does this have to work flawlessly all the time, or is it no big deal if you run into some problems that take a few days to fix? Is this something your livelihood or health depend on or just "nice to have"?)

I amlooking for a lap top. nice to have emails. watch videos online surfing the net etc. hopefully turn it into a business income opportunity.
is 4 gig enough? I need a long lasting battery life. I have a 1 TB external harddrive so I dont necessarily need a big hard drive
