My brother bought a pet hamster for my kids for a chanukah present. So what do we need to know to care for it? Can I give my own seeds or do I need to buy from a pet store? The ones my brother bought contained penuts and my dd is severely allergic - so I need to get something else. Also how often does the cage need to be cleaned out? What else do I need to know.

I tried googleing but all the sites pretty much say the same thing....
I thought ppl here forsure would have one and let me know what I need to know
