Do you think it's o.k to wash my full size mattress pad in my wahing machine? I have an old model small machine with an agitator. Also, would you put it into the dryer- I'd like to sleep on it tonight!

Of course, you're supposed to wash them! I've heard you should wash them every 6 months (although I confess, I am lax about that.)
Not sure about the dryer, though. Could be. I've always hung it out to dry. You can always sleep a night on just a sheet with no mattress pad underneath.
Oh, and the washing machine that I used also had an agitator. It was fine

I put mine in the dryer all of the time and I never have a problem.
Is it a waterproof one? I have waterproof ones that have the waterproof lining in the middle (like a layer of plastic sandwiched between the fabric) and they're fine. I had older ones that had a plastic lining that was on the bottom (not sandwiched between fabric) and after the dryer, it used to stick to itself and look like it had melted together, but I was able to flatten in back out and it was still okay.

Dry it on a lower setting.

Mattress pads can be washed and dried in the machine.
Pillowtops... now that's another story.
