Ok so here is an example. My not yet Bar mitzvahed son recieved as a gift from a friend two yrs ago a cute pull apart car building set.
He had over a friend ( different one) on shabbos who played with it and wanted to buy it. My son said a) we don't talk business on shabbos and b) who said it's for sale.
Anyways without consulting me I only found out after the fact he sold it to his friend, my son said he had no idea what to charge so his friend just gave him 20.00 well though that gift must have been worth more. Thats not the point he a should've consulted with a) Me,my husband and
b) Why sell the gift even if he didn't really need it.
c) I don't think I like this idea of money thrown around.
So far I have told him to tell his friend both sets of parents have to be consulted and agree b/4 a eeal like this is reached though I am still thinking about this.
And I need you ladies help on this

My 2 cents:
Personally, I find it a bit young to start learning trades and sales.
You did the right thing by telling him to consult you or your dh.
I also don't like it for the fact that when it starts, it turns into many business deals and what is a kid of age 13 busy makign cheshbonos for?
Perhaps make a diff deal with the kids.
If you see a child really wants to buy s/t from yours, talk to him and maybe set up a learning system where ha can get it w/o paying, that is of course if the item won't be a terrible loss to either you or your son.
