I discovered under my couch these worms, and got them examined by the exterminator. He confirmed that they are carpet beetle, and now he gave me instructions to clean all my clothing and bag it and examine every drawer and nook and cranny. The exterminator will then come and spray around the baseboards and closets. He is giving me a guarantee for a year, and if I find them again he will come back. The more I am looking the more I am finding them everywhere, not only in my drawer of the clothing. It is incredibly hard to spot them, and I am going crazy just trying to look everywhere at once. PLEASE HELP!! If someone had any success with getting rid of them, please please help me!! I will be forever grateful!!!

I had them last fall. I tried to find the thread where I posted about it but couldn't. If I find it, I'll post the link. We got rid of them without too much difficulty. The exterminator came every week for several months and we vacuumed everything. Do you know where they're coming from? With me, it was from a bag of hand-me-downs someone gave for my kids. Once I knew the source, I knew where to focus on with vacuuming, but I vacuumed everything until I figured it out.

Here's my thread from the fall.

It really wasn't so bad considering that I first feared I was dealing with bedbugs. We might have a different kind though, as mine looked like bugs, not worms.

Thank you so so so much for responding. I am going off my mind thinking about it. I don't know the source, but have spotted them in the dining room, and bedrooms. So how many times did the exterminator come? Which company did you use? How much did you pay for it? Did you bag all the clothings? The exterminator I am considering to use said for $300 he comes once and then will come back again, if I see them again throughout the year. Now I am thinking it might be a better idea to have one that would come down often. I don't even know where to begin with the vacuuming. Did you empty the vacuum after every time vacuuming? I am also trying to declutter the house as much as possible to have an easier time cleaning it all at once. Thanks TONS for helping me out with this!!!!!!!

This might be too late to help you, but I think this is what we had a year or two ago. The exterminator just told us to vacuum like crazy, and use a new bag each time. I think they said to vacuum all the base boards and everything every day for a couple of months. We didn't do it for that long at all, probably only a week or two. And the bugs went away. No extermination was necessary. The only expense was a bunch of vacuum cleaner bags.
