How to you serve it? Any particular glaze? |
I usually make buttercream frosting-and tint it yellow with food coloring.

That cake is the one I though of when I read the title of this thread. I am a chocolate lover, but this is my favorite cake of all! |
ME TOO!!!
Very fool-proof - works great in a bundt, 9x13 - anything - handles add-ins.
it's my go to recipe!

I do this sometimes as well.... otherwise I just find the flavor of cake that I want and make sure it has oil instead of margarine in the ingredients - so many out there

Is this for a shallow or deep 9 X 13 pan?

I believe standard is 2" deep. Maybe 2 1/2".

The shallow one is 1 1/2", the deeper is a tiny bit over 2", both the most common size tins for 9 X 12 cakes. The deeper needs way more batter, or batter that will expand greatly.
The shallow 9 X 12 tin, when half full (to allow for rising) holds about 30 ounces of batter, the deeper 9 X 12 tin holds about 50 ounces when half full.

How much oil do you use to substitute for margarine?

The shallow pan is made for brownies and bars not rising cakes.
