What's wrong with metal? I have great metal spatulas, some with plastic handle, some straight metal. There are quite a few widths and shapes, so getting mixed up bet. milchig and fleishig shouldn't be a problem.

I only like plastic ones because the metal ones scrape on the pan & give me the chills.

I don't have non-stick pans. I agree, they tend to get scratched, that';s why I don't like them. Wink I like good quality stainless steel pans.

I have plastic for almost everything . . . . I have no idea why?

Maybe I should rethink that too!

a spatula in American is different from a british spatula.

You're talking about the thing that you use to scrape things out of a mixing bowl, or are you talking about a thing that you use to turn fried eggs or french toast?

I think, in America a spatula is the former.

actually sue, for me its both.

plastic is better cuz they dont scrape the finish off the pans. you can find white ones as well as black ones for a dollar. they work fine-dont need to spend any more than that. try odd lot type stores, housewares, wal-mart $ stores etc.
