Most margarines are milchig.
If they're dairy or made on dairy equipment, they'll say so. This is not very different than any other food product. I'm assuming that most people check for hechsherem, so why's this any different?

Earth Balance makes a healthy, no-trans-fat margarine that tastes excellent. You can bake with it, fry with it, whatever.
Hope this helps someone make their next kugel less lethal!

Nothing non jewish about butter tasting kugel, even if you use real butter. Unless you are eating it with meat of course.
Yum....I love butter!

Its kind of different because fleishmans make the same margarine dairy and parve. The package looks the same and if you don't specifically check each time you buy it, you may accidently buy dairy margarine! It happened to me twice!

I would say that these days MOST margarines are milchig. Last time I went to buy margarine almost all were OU D. I had a hard time finding one that was pareve.

You are all making me very nervous.
I usually buy mehadrin, but sometimes I buy fleishmanns, and now I am very worried. I have to go home and look in my fridge to make sure it is pareve.

I posted as amother because I always do. I am an extremely paranoid person in real life, so I choose to post as amother. why is that any of your business? and to make fun of me and say the reason I posted anonymously is because I spelled a word wrong........what are you trying to do? completely ruin any drop of self esteem or positive feelings about myself that I have?
I asked what is so non jewish tasting about the taste of margarine, because I really don't know. instead of someone answering me, I got made fun of for my spelling.
Amother, I edited your post. Please remember to speak politely on Imamother.

be careful with fleishmanns all but one type is dairy... I always use the parve fleishmanns I think it is the one with no salt added but dont take my word for it. I think I can taste a difference between fleishmanns and any "jewish brand" I've tasted!!!
as far as the kugle tasting "non jewish" and for the record I dont like that term... anyway I find it funny b/c isn't kugle a "jewish" food??
